Ellis is the one who first moved to Memphis, Tennessee. They seemed to have moved around during these years. He is also
Notice that his son Benjamin
 did NOT use the "s"
on his grave whereas Ellis did on his

the first one to start using the "s" on the surname. It was to distance themselves in Tennessee from their French Creole line which = "part black" at the time. Which they were.
Ellis would die of x-ray burns. Not sure if it was at the hospital in the early days of x-ray technology while receiving an x-ray for an injury as a carpenter or from some other source. Although I don't know what other source a carpenter at that time would have been exposed to.
He is buried in Memphis.
